The new branch of the bakery Honeder Naturbackstube is located at the corner of Spittelwiese and Herrenstraße in the neighborhood Domviertel in Linz. As the bakery is surrounded by small boutiques and traditional shops, as the basis for the design we chose the attributes natural, honest and elegant. We used materials that fit these attributes, and it seemed obvious to us that we should uncover the old wooden ceiling. A natural mineral surface coating was used for the floor, and the furnishings were made of spruce. A special highlight, literally, are the hand-blown suspended lights from the glass-making company Glashütte Comploj. Elements such as the counter and the bread sideboard were aligned with the line of sight of customers coming in. The arrangement in the space that is purposely not at right angles creates a fascinating spatial impression, makes room, and is clear and uncluttered at the same time.
The window niches invite guests to stay and enjoy the view in a slightly higher seating position at eye level with the passers-by.
Numerous small pictures on the walls document the history and the work of the Honeder family, conveying their passion for their craft. In combination with the freestanding baskets, the result is a poetically elegant authenticity.
