The Design Salon and Art Salon is a communicative space for encounters among those interested in art and design, which takes place every year since 2014 in the State Gallery Linz. This year the design exhibition is devoted to the theme of “Obsession” as a passionate and often irrational pleasure in collecting. Eight design collections and the collectors themselves are presented here. What is the motivation for collecting? What is the reason for the (collection) value of an object, and what is it that makes this object a coveted designer piece in the first place? The exhibition design conceived by MARCH GUT refers to the archive of the collectors. Two conventional industrial shelves as the basis create a dynamic interplay between storage space and museum presentation. Curator: Katrin Steindl
