IMMER. NOCH. DA. – Stift St. Florian
The St. Florian Monastery, one of the largest and best-known monasteries from the Baroque period in Austria, is celebrating its 950th anniversary with a special exhibition.
Under the title ALWAYS. STILL. THERE. the order of the Augustinian Canons gives insights into life in the monastery, its history and architecture and also into the extraordinary art collection. An exciting journey through the rooms of the Neue Galerie via a light and audio installation in the meditation chapel to the impressive summer refectory: the impressive former dining room where a long table invites you to linger and read.
The exhibition furniture, made from regional wooden staves, is of high quality while being simple and reserved in accordance with the monastic demands. The graphic, striking in contrast to the architecture in bright red, constantly emphasizes the question: What does your heart beat for?
