Natural materials such as spruce from the picturesque Mühlviertel region, and hand-woven presentation baskets from the therapy workshop of the Sanatorium of the Brothers of Mercy provide the new butcher’s store with the attractive detail that characterises its new look. The timber used was brushed, white varnished and matt-coated to give it optimum suitability for its business use. The cashier zone is located in the centre of the shop interior. In contrast to conventional store premises, the usual barrier between the salespeople and customers has been removed to create an atmosphere of community and encourage direct personal communication and consultation. Deliberately chosen traditional elements such as a wrought iron gate at a main entrance, a corner bench in front of the shop or the recently provided window to the bacon storage room add key authenticity to the overall design.
