On the occasion of this year’s 200th anniversary of “Silent Night”, the Stille Nacht Museum in Hallein was entirely renovated and made barrier-free. MARCH GUT won the competition for the refurbishing, and the museum will be ceremoniously opened on Saturday 29 September!
Hallein is a place of originals, and the last resting place of Franz Xaver Gruber. That is why it was especially important for the MARCH GUT team to preserve the special atmosphere. In a bright and open exhibition documents, instruments, and day-to-day objects are presented without blocking the view of the author’s former living space. Large, round platforms focus on various stations in his life like beams of light, and onlookers will always be confronted with his personal writings. A special room with a children’s station, as well as a living archive invite to delve in further and stay just a little bit longer.
